I first saw Ella when I visited the Bacau Public Dog Shelter in 2013. Shocked and appalled by what I saw there, I knew at least one dog would be starting a new life with me.
So many to choose from, it was heart breaking. Gentle Ella stole my heart. Dirty and scared, she held out her paw through the cage wire and I knew I had to take her. Ella, an abandoned street dog, left to starve in the public shelter, came to the UK 3 years ago. She has grown into a confident girl, achieving her Bronze Award with Warwick Dog Training Club, working towards her silver. She is an ambassador, for all the Bacau Public Shelter dogs, who will never know love ,or sleep on a warm bed. She is one of the lucky ones.
Warwick Dog Training Club, have kindly given me their achievement award for 2017, for volunteer work with Romania’s street dogs. However, this award is really for Ella. She has come such a long way in her short life; she has survived a tail mutilation and a broken hip, the trauma inflicted by the brutal dog catchers and the fear and uncertainty of life on the street and in the public shelter.
If it wasn’t for SSDR, Ella would never know a happy life and we want to thank all the volunteers in this wonderful group, who have made this possible.
Ella is an ambassador. Through her, people every day, hear her story and want to help. The award is for all Sadies volunteers and all the Bacau rescues.
